I have about 300 files on my WMP10 that look like this:

    AAAAAAAAAAA 0:34 270kbps 1.05 MB wma 5/26/07 Amy Winehouse-Know you no.wma

    and one or two others.

    How do I delete these?

surely, someone must know how to do this...if it can't be done (delete files) then can someone suggest a player that can be cleaned up and easy to organize?

    TIA

I don't understand why you don't just right-click the file, hold down the shift key while selecting delete. Then the file is gone; because of the shift key it won't go to the recycle bin.

well, plodr, I did that and I get an error that says:

    Cannot delete *file name*
    Cannot find the specified file.
Make sure you specify the correct path and file name.

what can I do to enable deletion of these files?

Search for one of the 300 .wma files. What is the path?

I'm sorry, I didn't explain that I am a complete and utter idiot when it comes to computers.....what is a path and how do I find it?

Click on Start, then Search then for Files and folders (the wording might be slightly different in XP). In the box that appears, where it says, search for files or folders named: you will type in *.wma (the * is called a wildcard; it is used when you are not sure of the letters).
On the right hand side, appearing will be a few hundred files, provided they are still on your computer. Aside of each file it will give the path (this is the exact location of the file). Pick any one of the files and post it's path, then I will tell you how to get rid of it.

Two say recycle bin one says C:/Documents and Settings/my name/shared. How is it possible for them to be in recycle bin when I keep it empty with Ccleaner?

    Thank you.

Sometimes just using ccleaner, won't totally remove items. During these times, one must also reboot.

Another thing to try, is to right click on said song file, and select properties. The properies dialog box should show the full path of said song.

I have no idea how you delete files that appear to be in the recycle bin and yet the recycle bin is empty.
As for the other, open windows explorer (right click my computer and select explore). In the left pane click on C, then Documents and Settings, then username and lastly shared. In the right pane you should see some of the wma files you want gone. Hold down the ctrl key while clicking the files you want removed. As you select, the file should be highlighted blue. When you have a few selected, release the ctrl key and now hold down the shift key. Then right click one of the highlighted files and select delete. You hold down the shift key while selecting delete so the file bypasses the recycle bin and you don't have to delete it a 2nd time.

Ok, plodr....when I click on shared files it freezes up and I have to press control >alt>delete at which point it says Program not responding. Why?

Sorry, I have no idea. I do have file sharing set up so I have no shared folder.
Do you use or have used any P2P program? If so and you removed it, maybe this shared folder is the left over.
Boot into safe mode and see if you can delete it from there.

Yeah, I used Limewire for a while, however, I was advised to remove it for security reasons. Thank you, I will do as you suggest.
