Deleting files

im trying to get more space on my hard drive and have noticed that _restore/archive files are taking up alot of space 14.7 gb as a matter of fact.Can a person safely delete these files

If your talking about the system restore points yes you can , it will delete all the old restore points and leave the most current. I would make sure i had a good recent restore point though before i did. just run your anti virus and what ever spyware prog you have and if you have an registry cleaner prog run that then go to system restore and create a restore point and label it how you want then delete the old restore points through your disk cleanup menu.

you can delete all but the last system restore point quite easily just right click the drive in MY Computer > Properties > Disk Cleanup > More Options then bottom option is to remove all but the last system restore point.

if you know your system is runing fine and has no problems you can also delete all the restore points by turning off system restore ( right click My Computer > Properties > Turn off on all drives .... you will also find the size slider hear too Hightlight a drive and click Settings and adjust the slider for the amount of space you wish SR to use ) System Restore and rebooting then enabling again.. this will tho start eating up space again.. unless you adjust the amount of space that system restore can use, I have mine set to 1% of HD capacity and that creates around 6-7 restore points and uses 1-1.5GB of drive space.
