    HI,
I always install new software on our external drive because that's where we have space on our antique computer, but I always find the set up files on the C drive & they are usually several megabytes. Is it OK to delete these set up filels after installation is complete , or will this cause problems, esp if I need to uninstall later?
    Thanks!:)

When I see Install Files in any TEMP folder structure, then I know they're eligible for deletion.

AMD-ATI graphics drivers (and other products) will create some temporary holding folder-structures for files - I know I can delete those BUT to be on the safe side, you CAN do a simple, easy Folder-Rename (add a ZZ to the front of its name), restart the computer then start up the application. If it works, then I know those setup files in that renamed folder can't be accessed using the old folder name - so they're eligible for deletion.

If it fails, then I can do an easy Folder Re-Rename!

I tried to attach some pics here so you can see what I want to delete. I don't understand the computer jargon. I could try the rename but if somebody knows offhand if I can delete these it'll save time.....
You can see the first one celarly says it's an installer, the second one doesn't, but its big, but the one on the external drive is 124 MB.

CS, these pix don't tell me what folder-structure these exist in. That's a key issue.

I gather you're not comfortable using the file manager called "Windows Explorer"? (You can start Windows Explorer by holding down the WinKey and tapping the "E" key. After a moment, the file manager will be displayed. If you haven't used this before, it's an important tool to learn about, and requires a more exhaustive discussion. It is a powerful AND DANGEROUS tool to learn, but it can be a more efficient method of locating files, folders and working with them.)

Hey, wouldn't I get the same results if I put those files in the recycle bin & tried to run the programs??? Then I could just restore them. Just a thought.
