I was just looking for some advice on deleting software that I've imported from an old hardrive. I just moved the folders from the old hardrive to the root of the new hardrive. Now when I try to use the software with the accompanying discs they don't function properly. I'm guessing it has something to do with them not being properly installed now. So I'm just trying to figure out how to properly delete them. Do I simply need to right click on the folder, delete it, and then remove it from the recycle bin? Or is there some more in depth process I need to go through to really get rid of it? I have the program SlimCleaner, and it has the shredding option. I don't know exactly what that does or what role it might play in the process. Does it actually help to functionally fully remove the files, or does it just prevent them from being traceable on a hardrive examination?

As these programs have not actually been installed, I would just delete the folders, then reinstall the ones you want.

Shredding is just a more powerful, more permanent way of erasing stuff... though forensic people can still find things if they really want to.

In your situation shredding doesn't help. Delete your folder to recycle bin (but leave them in your recycling bin until you are confident you don't want to restore them), then reinstall your software properly as suggested by baklogic.

BUT make sure you make a restore point on you computer BEFORE you start installing new (or new to that computer/system) software. Then the worse that can happen is you have roll back your system to this restore point and then restore your deleted folders from recycle bin. At least you should be no worse off then where you are now.

    good luck with it
