Deleting Sun Java?

    Hi,

Sun Java needs to be off my computer because it messes up the transcription program I use for work (it is compatible with MS Java).

After deleting it, there is something called "Progress Bar" still visible in Add/Remove Programs. Something is wrong -- I have hit the "remove" button about 8 times but it is still on there. I did do a RegEdit and deleted one of the keys there, so now the amount of space is gone but the listing is still there.

Can anyone recommend an uninstall/removal tool? I looked at JavaRa but DO NOT want to install the latest version of Java; I only want to DELETE all the Sun Java that is on the PC.

    Thanks.

OK a quick update: I did run the JavaRa tool because there is a menu. It deleted a bunch of old Java files, but the "Progress Bar" is still visible in Add/Remove Programs.

    Grrrr............

How to get rid of this annoying thing?

    Thanks!

Okay, that feature is apparently part of the TOOLS section of CCleaner.

My options are to delete the entry (which unfortunately produces a prompt advising that while this will delete the uninstall entry from the registry, it will NOT uninstall the application itself) or to run uninstaller. I chose the latter, which unfortunately didn't do anything.

Am I doing something wrong? Any other suggestions?

    Thanks!

Since you deleted Java and removed something from the registry, uninstalling is no longer possible. That's why I suggested CCleaner to rid yourself of seeing the entry in Add/Remove.

I've removed Sun Java from all my computers except one and I've never seen the Progress Bar item.
Today I used Void Tools http://www.voidtools.com/
to look for Sun and Java items still remaining. I found quite a bit and erased them. I'm sure there are entries in the registry. Perhaps when I run CClean registry's cleaner it will find what can be removed.
I'm not going to pick through the registry. My chance of breaking something would outweigh having some useless pieces remaining in there.
