Dell 4600 Tries To Load Windows FAX on Startup

Good Morning,

My desktop always tries to load Windows FAX on startup. It keeps asking for a disk and requires several cancellations to get the request to close. This obviously takes up startup time.

What disk is it wanting to run to find the FAX it wants to load? I attempted to use the Windows XP disk that came with the machine but that doesn't do the trick or I'm doing it wrong. I don't really care one way or another if it is loaded or not, I just don't want the startup prompts to load FAX.

Any help with this problem would be greatly appreciated.

Do you use the fax service from windows? If not, try going to add/remove programs, then choose windows components, see if the fax service has a check in the box. If yes, uncheck the box, reboot. :wave:wave:wave

No, I don't use Fax services. The box was unchecked.

Then try checking, rebooting, then uncheck.

A lot of windows problem can be solved by toogling on/off. Wish cars were that easy! :wave:wave
