Hi, I've had a Dell D600 2.0Ghz for a few years and yesterday the hard drive (80GB) started to make some strange noises and the computer kept crashing. I went out and bought a new 120GB today to replace it, when I've put the new one in I get the error message: 'Primary Drive 0 Not found'. I've tried taking it back out and putting the old one back in but the same message comes up?!? Have I damaged something or do I need to reset the BIOS etc.?

    Many thanks
    J

Forgot to say: In the BIOS there is no hard drive shown either.

Did you check the jumper (Master o Cable Select) and re-seat the cables???;)

Hi thanks for the reply. It's a laptop drive, it slides back in to the laptop rather than using cables etc.

    Cheers

Hmm... no, I didn't check that. I'll try to find out what the limits are from Dell I guess.

Thanks, guess if that's the case I can use the 120GB for an external drive.:-o
