Ok, I've searched every where only to find, desktop dells hdd's can only be repaired/reinstalled with the dell disc. I've founded nothing on installation of a knew hdd, which I would to do for more space. Is it possible and how?

There is nothing preventing you from installing a new hdd in your dell machine, as long as you have a copy of windows from dell or retail on disc, so you can install it on the hdd.

I thought so too... I've tried Maxtor 200gb/60gb & western digital 160gb and dell will not reconized the hdd. If I proceed with xp install it stop at Agreement screen, says it cant find hdd. any thoughts?

This came with Windows ME in the year 2000? Was the original hard drive 20GB?
If so, that computer only supports a hard drive up to 60GB; this would be a limitation because of the BIOS.

Tell us about the Maxtor 60GB you tried to install. Was it new? If not where did it come from?

I got it from a friend and it has 160gb. If it came with 20gb orignal how was this 160gb installed and how can i change it? Meaning the bios has been updated, rite? Maxster hdd was used and it works.
