My Dell DVD writer is really annoying me... it is a

    TSSTcorp DVD+-RW TS-L532B

The one big problem is that... I can't burn DVDs!!! I put in a blank DVD-R, and I start up Nero Vision Express 3. However, there isn't an option for me to make a DVD-Video. All there is, is VCD and SVCD, which isn't what I want! Does anyone know what I can do? I can't update my drivers either because I can't find the firmware that's compatible with this writer (and it probably won't work anyways since it's Dell...) Does anyone know what I can do? I really want to burn a bunch of videos onto a DVD so I can watch it on my TV, and also get it off my hard drive...

The only way I can do it right now is to transfer everything onto my PC and burn it there, since everything works fine on my PC, but I have almost 12GB of videos and that's going to take a hell of a long time to transfer it all, and that isn't even a permanent solution... Any help at all is appreciated. Thanks!

You can always find the latest drivers for Dell machines at http://support.dell.com

However, it sounds more like you need the right software for the job. May I recommend to you DVD Decrypter? This is a fantastic freeware app for extracting an ISO (put it in ISO Read setting from the 'Mode' menu), and you can also burn the image with it (ISO Write Mode). For users with a dual layer burner, this is all you need. Just extract the image, and burn it to disc to have a working backup of the DVD.

However, for single layer users, DVDShrink may be of help as well. Once you have an image from DVD Decrypter, you can use DVDShrink (which is also freeware, btw)to compress it to a size that will fit on a single layer disc. It is nicely integrated with DVD Decrypter, and makes compressing, and backing up your movies a snap.

Hmm well by videos I don't mean DVD movies, but just like AVI files for anime... Would that method still work?

No. Those rip and transcode DVD movies. You may need the DVD plug-in for Nero if you have an OEM version (it comes with the retail version): http://www.nero.com/eng/DVD_Video_Plug_in_InfoPage.html .

I have the DVD Plug-In for Nero. I have it installed in both my PC and my laptop, and it works perfectly fine on my PC. I've already tried reinstalling and that didn't work... And I'm pretty sure I need the DVD Plug-In to burn SVCD anyways, and that IS an option on my laptop, although that's not the option I want to use.
