My laptop just quit on me. It is running Windows 10, and just turns on and sticks at the logo screen. I can go to f12 or f2 but they are not helpful to me as I do not know what to do from there. I assume I need a system restore but do not know how to get there. It can be completely wiped..I have nothing I need on it. Thank you.

Well I understand I have to get to safe mode. That would be the problem. It goes to the logo..that is all. This link suggests either logging in on admin account (it goes to logo screen ONLY), or If I do Windows/R button, as video suggests, it takes me to the "Your system seems to be having trouble starting. Dell Support Assist is scanning your hardware for a possible cause" screen. This goes on for several minutes saying estimated time 2 min 2 sec...that is all. Sorry I hit send by mistake...it then finishes and says hardware scan complete with no issues. Hitting continue brings me back to same screen..it is an endless loop.

Did your system come with any recovery media, or a 'burn once' recovery media option? If so use that. If the logo screen has a power icon in the lower right, use that to choose restart.
If none of the above, and you don't have any way of getting to recovery options you will probably need to call Dell Customer Support with your Service Tag number and ask for their assistance.

No and No. Lower right has F2 or F12 options which I can go to..but see nothing helpful as I don't know what it all means

    You now have a choice:

    1. Telephone Dell Technical Support with your Service Tag number and ask for help
    2. Download on another system a Win 10 ISO file burn it as a bootable image on a DVD then use that DVD to reinstall Windows 10

When the POST screen comes up does a bar come up at the bottom that moves across the screen?

Do you have an SD card in the reader slot or another drive/device connected to a USB port when you restart the computer? These could prevent the computer from booting to the OS.

Thanks anyway. I called and they said system is corrupt or something. I am sending it back.
