Hi! I have a problem with my Dell Inspiron 2200 laptop. The keyboard is "out of mind". Some keys function correctly but some other do not.
E.g. when I type the "b" key, the dialog box for "Find and Replace" comes out.
When I type the spacebar is like I`ve typed the "b" key. But if I find an
"appropriate" moment to type the spacebar, it`s ok.
Also when I type the backspace is like I`ve typed "t" key and it doesn`t delete characters, but in another "approppriate" moment it is ok.
The same problem with some other keys :(
This problem occurs in all office applications, while in Notepad when I type "b" key it shows the time and date and puts it in the editor in the place of "b" :(
I have done all that I could, I have even formated the pc but it won`t be repaired. :(
Does anyone have any opinion how to solve this problem???

Check the ribbon cable and its connection from the keyboard to the body of the laptop.

If you don't feel confident enough to do this get professional help.

It definitely sounds like either a problem with the keyboard connection to the motherboard as studiot suggests, or possibly a stuck key (ALT, CTRL, or Fn are the most likely culprits).

You can read the instructions for reseating the keyboard and its ribbon cable in the Service Manual for the system (http://support.dell.com/support/edocs/systems/ins2200/en/SM/keyboard.htm#1084976). If you have any questions on this I will be happy to answer them.

Another possible cause is the system thinking it has a different type of keyboard connected, and thus is reading the keyboard input wrong. Normally this kind of behavior is caused by the region settings (laguage, etc) being set incorrectly or changed. If you open the Control Panel, Region and Language Options you can verify what it is set for (by default it should be English unless you ordered a non-US system).

If you have other questions on the system I will be happy to answer them. If reseating the keyboard connection does not fix it please let me know and I will continue to work with you to get things fixed.
