Dell Inspiron 9100 problems

I need to find anyone that owns a Dell Inspiron 9100. I'm getting an annoying whine from the audio jack and every test I've done makes me believe that it's an EMI problem because the fan and audio jack are one component unit. The fan runs...whine...no fan...no whine.

Is there anyone else in the known universe that's having this problem.

I've sent the computer back to depot maintenance twice and replaced the fans once myself and still the whining is there. Dell's solution is to exchange my new laptop with a refurbished one, and they can't understand why that's not acceptable to me. So...

I'm trying to find anyone that might have this same problem so I could determine if it's a problem with all 9100s or if I just got a bum laptop.

I have a 9100 that was giving me audio problems, although I'm not sure they were exactly what you're talking about. My sound was giving me wierd noises through the headphone jack, as long as it was just through the speakers it was fine. What I finnaly found out the problem was, was that a connection between my sound card and my headphone jack (I'm guessing the ground) had broken and was occasionally touching or not depending on what angle I put force on the jack itself. Since the thing was no longer under warrenty, I gathered up my stupidity and gambled on a drop of sodder on the card itself where the broken link was, it's worked fine ever since.
