Would like to find out how to add memory to this older laptop. 10kb I think. Spends a lot of time when first turned on adding virtual memory. Not a lot installed; Windows xp, MS office 2007. But has beautiful screen and long battery life - 10 hours - and would like to take it to work away from home/work. Do I need an external hard drive? Does that work for this machine? Thanks if you can help.

    Greetings, dms765.

We need to know the model # and Dell Service Tag # of your machine, and what XP Service Pack # you're using.

If you can supply that info, I'm sure that we can come up with some upgrades. ;)

If it has Usb ports, then you can attache usb sticks/hard drives
    We will need to know:
What the model of the laptop is.

We can then check out its maximum memory (Ram) and we can check other bits about it.
As its running XP, iI would assume it has about 256mb ram, at preent, although it can work with 128mb, theen can be slower-
So look underneath the laptop, and let us know anything it has beneath.
If you are in Windows, then click Start, then right click on mm Computer, and left click properties, and you will get a little box come up, and it can tell us what it has- pentium 11/pentium 111/Pntium 4/Celerom M/ and it will show how much Ram you have, and the speed of the cpu- (850mhz/ 1ghz/ 1.5 ghz, etc:
Come back and let us know, and we can help you more.
