Dell Laptop Ports Or Cable?

I have forgot its model large Dell laptop, for about 2.5 yrs. It's one of them that folds into like a tablet mode, largest one they had for the year.
I pretty much use it exclusively to watch movies on my BS TV. I use HDMI cable for that. Streaming with sticks does not work too good, is very patchy.
As of about last several months, I keep getting interruption in video stream. TV goes blank, then returns back to picture. Yesterday, this was going on like machine gun fast.
Wiggling cable in port sometimes happens, sometimes not.
Charging port also gives me grief. I lately have to fold charging cable certain way under laptop, or it will not charge.
My question is - is it HDMI port or cable? My gut, as charging port also acts up, tells me - it's port in laptop.
AM I right? I have USB C port in laptop and just ordered adapter for HDMi for it, hopefully, that will fix it for some time and I plan on leaving adapter plugged in all the time, instead of taking it out and re inserting several times a day, like I do with HDMI now.

You said "I lately have to fold charging cable certain way under laptop, or it will not charge."
    This could well be either.
On laptops the charging port can burn in the laptop, if plugged into the laptop when power is already on (good practice is to connect to laptop, then plug in mains, and then turn laptop on) and some-possibly Dell may just need a new internal charging port that comes with a cable with cable - or, a new plug in port soldered in.
The charger itself can have frayed cables inside the sheath, and if it works like you said, either is possible
If you give us the model type, and number, we might be able to help more.

    thank you
    I believe, it's this one:
    Inspiron 17 5000 Series
    just from several years back.
Sorry me, I was always just plugging charger plug into laptop.
And HDMI cable is about 6m long.
That's why I am sort of split - cable or port.
I really don't want to take it Best Buy or else to have ports replaced, especially now, when money start being accounted for every penny. And it's way above my pay grade to DIY those ports
But, as I said, my gut tells me - it's ports.

Charging cable problem could cause the video output to play up, as it might keep getting low on power..... These cables can be frayed inside the seath, from just inserting and unplugging, and, it could just be the actual power supply causing it all- I would replace that first - (pretty cheap, and may be the only answer needed)- the internal cable, and port failure are less likely.
You could also try another hdmi cable- same reason......Again,rare for port to go ....
If its the actual internal power connection.......
    Your manual
So that you can see for yourself what is involved, Only attempt , if replacement chrarger does not work - if money is the problem, and you have no other option if you are a novice.
Otherwise, you can see what you might have to pay for..........

    Thank you, very educational.
Appears to be HDMI port. I connected USB type C HDMI adapter yesterday and it didn't glitch a single time. I am going to leave it in, instead of taking cable out and in twice a day. To be honest, cable plug wobbled in the port quite a bit.
I'll call Geeks squad to find out, how much to replace charging port.
As the least, I am not following your charging protocol - unplug charger from the wall first, plug it in, then connect to wall outlet.
I did not use charger when using laptop. Does not work that way with my room layout.
    Again, thank you.

Yes, that manual is very helpful. I might as well DIY charging port. I'll look into how to get to it. I have watchmaker tool set.

BUT I WOULD FIRST BUY A NEW CHARGER, As this is more likely on the Dell than internal plug, and lead-
If you still have problems, then, Just follow the anti-static recommendations, if you are going to attempt it, read at least twice, and then read as you do it to be sure- Obviously switch off, unplug, then remove battery ! =Next, press and hold start button and this will discharge any latent power in the laptop. Do not touch anything inside laptop, without gounding yourself (waterpipe nearby ?, or, if you have, or, can buy/borrow an anti static wrist strap- this is just to avoid later trouble.....)

OK, ordered charger. $20. Don't want cheaper ebay stuff.
