I'm having difficulty with my Dell Inspiron 600m, Windows XP Professional, SP 1, M processor 1300MHz, 1.27 GHz, 512 RAM.

I am experiencing problems with webpage display. Sometimes I can not see the words on the page. Background images such as wallpapers and colors do not display as they do on other computers. It appears that some annimations are not working. In short...surfing sucks with this machine for the most part.

Sometimes I get an error message, "This page may not display correctly because your active x contols are not enabled. Your security settings may be set too high". When I try to change the security settings, the changes are not accepted.

Some of the monitor troubleshooting test in the display troubleshooter will not finish and give the message that the monitor screen size setting is not optimized...yet they are set at 1024 x 764.

Dell advised I run a check at the MS Windows update page but the letters on the page are 8" tall...and the page itself is unreadable.

Dell has never been able to help me solve the problem. I spent 2 hours on the phone trying fixes with a support rep (who was located in India). I like the puter but this is bullshit
for an optimized laptop that ran me 2 K. I'm thinking I got a Lemon. Seems to me like there is a Windows - hardware incompatibility of some sort.

    I'd like some feedback...

Is there a possible fix for this problem, did I get a Lemon, and /or should I just trade this laptop out for another Dell? Please advise...

I checked the text size...it is set at "medium". One other problem I am having is that when I try to print text from a web page it never resizes the text so that it fits on the printed page.

    Please...more suggestions. Thanks.

If you haven't tried reinstalling the chipset and video drivers, I'd do that. And I don't know if laptops have monitor drivers, but you might try installing them too.

Here is a link to some drivers for you laptop.

If that doesn't work, I'd backup all your important files (if you have any) and reinstall windows. Or go through the Dell system recovery process.
