    Hi All, dare I say I'm Back....lol... and a little problem....hehehe... problem...I have just the place to be....... WOOHOO... I'm back....

    Ok... Dell Latitude D400 Pentium M

    I Have COA.... XP Pro...

    I Have a Service Tag...

    Most of the Other lables a bit greyed and worn.

    Ok turn on the system... goes through the initial boot and up pops...

    On the initial boot it wont let me get into the bios, this is the first point of contact... I was just going to reformat and installbut cant do that either...

    This system is Leagle, have sale recipts and is stolen or passed on.

    So....lol... HELP please....

  2. Try Dell community Forums. You can even call dell..$$$ and bug them for a master password.Don't let them BS you. There is one. Can or will it let you boot to a CD? (turn on press F12?) there a disk out there in internet world called hirem's bootable cd or something like that,it has a bios password breaker. Will it work with dell?????Or better yet -does it really work? Can't tell ya,never tried it yet.

    Since you have a sales receipt, can't you just ask the vendor?

    BIOS or Drive lock type passwords. Not sure for that model but there's always a reset available, usually by shorting a pin, or removing the MB batter for 5 mins.

    Try removing bat first, then do some googlin for the shorting method.
     
  5. Did you get anything to work? I found a Dell BIOS password removing program I had from some site a while ago. If you need it I'll send you a link to download it.I haven't tried it yet so just to warn you .......IT IS UNTESTED BY ME! SO I don;t know if it works or not, yet.

    Hi and again thanks to all for the advise and help....

    Been an interesting one to sort...lol.... but finaly got on to the right help at Dell....

    Have made a good contact, he got me the #password from the #code i was geting from the system... then it threw up a #code for the HDD... he got me that as well...

    WOOHOO... System up and running and back to factory condition and all register will Dell recognition and auto update.
