Dell media experience if uninstalled will it

I have a Dell laptop 6000 2 yrs old. I want to now uninstall some of the Dell software as my warranty is now up and the laptop is still running well.

If I uninstall Dell media experience, will I still be able to play DVDs and record DVD-R & RWs & CDs on the DVD-RW drive? I have Nero 6 also. confused

Depends if this is the only capable media player on your system or not.

Personally, when it comes to video, I won't go further than VLC Media Player, as it is lightweight (won't slow the computer excessively whereas a lot of Dell software DOES), and has just about every codec you could ever need built in. This means it will play just about every video file you could throw at it.

No need to hunt for codecs, or tolerate the problems caused by them.

 

Nero 6 will do all the things you are worried about losing I believe. I think Nero Vision will play DVDs, if not, Mada made a good suggestion. Go ahead and uninstall the Dell media experience without any worries.

 

I uninstalled it, but Nero 6 won't play a DVD because it needs the purchase of a plug-in, so it says. I think I have an OEM Nero 6. But Dell has PowerDVD installed too, so it would play it. I guess I should spring for Nero 7, eh? The program Mada suggested just plays, right? It won't copy DVDs, will it? :major
