Dell Recovery

I"m working on a Dell Dimension 2300 for a friend. They don't have a recovery cd then ,They tryed to use a win.xp home cd that is installed on another pc.I have the Product Key # for the dell. Is there anyway I can get a recovery cd for this pc. I called DELL they said I had to buy a new OS CD. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance Chuck

 

You would either have to buy a Dell recovery CD from them or from a Buy & Sell, or get a copy from someone with the same model.

Either that or buy a full Windows CD.

 

Sorry I post this in wrong place.I can't find were to buy the recovery CD. I don't want to put a new OS on when there is a Legal Product key on the sticker. Thanks Chuck

 

Dell would be the provider. Only they could legally sell it.

 

The person at dell tec. said they don't sell recovery CD's And I can't find it on Dell's web. I"ll keep trying or see if I can find someone with that CD Thanks Chuck

All over that thread people are referred to call Dell for XP CDs...along with how to create a CD if your machine doesn't come with one.

Now, in your case, it may not be cheap, but you can't really expect them to give it away for free.
