DELL Reinstall Disks/OS Discs

If you need new Reinstall disk for your Dell laptap/desktop Here's the link to it http://support.dell.com/support/topics/global.aspx/support/dellcare/en/backupcd_form?c=us&cs=19&l=en&s=dhs&redirect=1 . There are FREE if your under warrenty. But if you have the new Windows 7 they want you to make your own disks. If your computer is out of warrenty you have to buy them now. (used to be free for 1 set of disks). They must of just started this, I reordered some about 2 months ago and they were free. Not sure how much they charge but if there like HP or Gateway it's about $20 bucks shipped. And No I don't have the HP or gateway websites.

 

I was able to buy a restore disk on Ebay for ~ $10. Yea it sure sucks shipping new computers without the restore disk how much per computer do they save doing that
probably 50 cents or less.

 

If it's a DELL, can't you restore the system to it's original out of the box configuration by holding the ctrl key and clicking f11 as the computer starts?

Well that works for some of the newer computers from dell but I had a Dell inspiron 1100 about 3 years ago and at the time it was already 3 years old and the sent me some new disks for it. Same for a inspiron 7000 and it was REALLY OLD! Sent me XP instead of the ME that it came with! But now they want the laptop to be under warranty to be able to get free disks. ANd I personaly would rather put XP/Vista(YUK) Win 7 on myself and get rid of all the add junk! And if your careful enough you can do a reinstall WITH the recovery partiton!
