dell vostro laptop 252064 bit

hi i am new here so hope i am posting in right place if not sorry i have dell vostro laptop cant get on internet and it wont load cd when i switch it on i get red x at bottom saying no signal but its an ethernet cable through virgin i can take it out off laptop put it my stack system and it will work straight away no problem straight on internet also if i put cd in side drawer it will spin has it wants to work but then just stops any help please would be great thx again
