    I'm confused w/ DELL's operating system.
    I have 64 bit...8 GB memory...1 TB/128 GB SSD...
    QUESTION: There's 2 drives now...not just C:\drive.
Everything I do goes into this C:\os drive and all of a sudden this drive ends up all red, out of memory.
Why 2 drives...and do u now have to manually delete incoming data and transfer it into DATA D:\drive?
Does the SSD increase in data or stay the same?

First of all they are not C:\ or D:\ drives.

You have 2 hard drives (well one is an SSD). Each of those drives has only one (visible) partition / volume on it with an associated drive letter ie C:\ & D:\

Think of it like a filing cabinet. Each of your drives currently have only one folder occupying the whole drive / filing cabinet. But you could create more folders on each drive and in so doing would create more partitions / volumes / folders.

You laptop has 2 drives. A fast boot drive, the SSD, where the o/s and programs are installed and a 1TB (normal) HDD for you to store you data on. This is a v good set up.

When you save your data, you should save it directly to the 1TB drive and not to the smaller 128Gb SSD

Actually...though still wondering what signifies ( Programs )....i.e,....ITUNES is in both drives as are a few more programs. I have approx 50 gb remaining out of the original 128 gb. I noticed that when I did a backup of my IPHONE...all the backup ended up in the SSD drive putting the drive into the red zone and had DELL remove those files back into the 1 Tb drive. That was very time consuming. Everything seems to go into COMPUTER C/:OS...and that tells me data is going into the SSD drive and I should remove them and put them in a folder on the 1Tb drive...this is confusing.

When you install a program, look at the installation path and change it to the D drive.
Also, in the program's settings, change the default location for saving files to a folder on D.

iTunes will have a default setting for saves in My Documents located on C:\ (as do others)

You need to either change the default save location in iTunes (which I rarely use) as Eldon has stated or move My Documents to D:\
