So I'm looking for an above average laptop. I don't really do all that much w/one but I do use it for stock trading etc. and just surfing the net. Anyway, I'm hard of hearing and would like to use it via bluetooth, to connect to an LG HBS-750 or similar device mainly for music: pandora, slacker, youtube etc. Would this be a good choice?

Other suggestions are welcome. I DO like a big, bright, sharp screen! Am currently using a 15" Acer 5742-Z
And having said that, I think the screen rez on my Acer is trash no? It looks it.

I don't know if an optical drive is important to you but, this XPS doesn't have one.

Based on your last reply, perhaps a Latitude or Inspiron would be a better (and less expensive) choice. I own a Latitude E6400 and an Inspiron 15-5555. The screens are bright and clear, they both have backlit keyboards, both have bluetooth, both have optical drives, both have SSDs (I purchased those separately) and the Inspiron is designed for media.

Thanks mdonah for the quick reply.... so what do you do w/an optical drive? I'm unfamiliar w/them.

(so most likely I don't need one lol!)

You read/write/rewrite CDs, DVDs & BDs.

Like Eldon said. I burn a lot of DVDs and CDs so, an optical drive is essential for me.

On any standard desktop PC or Laptop you can use a USB Wired mouse, or a USB drive wireless mouse.
Laptops have 'touch pads' that you can use with your fingers (look below the keyboard in the centre at a square 'pad'), but you can always use a wired or wireless USB mouse instead.

Sorry it took so long to get back to you.

Neither one is touchscreen. You'd use the trackpad or a mouse.

I looked at both and for "only" $180 more, you're getting the maximum amount of RAM and another Terabyte of hard drive storage.

But, I'd check on Amazon.com to see if you could get an even better deal. That's where I got my Inspiron 15-5555 with an AMD A8 quad core processor @ 2.2GHz (turbo to 2.5GHz), 12 GB of RAM and a 2TB hard drive for $399.

Thanks! I did what you said and got a machine just like yours for $419... free shipping!

Mine is a factory refurbished machine that has the remainder of a 1 year (March 2017) warranty and came with a "Recovery" DVD. I got free shipping on mine as well.

Your $419 machine was the other one I looked at on Amazon.
