Dell xps 410

I had to reinstall from scratch dell xps 410 I got all the drivers installed but the raid controller which I cannot find in the dell website or drivers disk. There is nothing that says raid contoller. ANy ideas?

 

Hi Mike.. I take it from your post that you are using a 'Raid Controller PCI Card' or do you mean you have 2 SATA drives that you wish to create a Raid ?? Could you be a bit more specific and what OS are you using. If you want to set up the latter (2 SATA drives) when using OS disk at start tap F6 that will take you to the RAID setup. You will need to have the drivers for it on a floppy that should have been supplied with your computer.

 

I beleieve its a raid pci card there is just one hard drive in machine over 300 gigs

 

I looked in the bios to, should the raid be set to on or autodetect. Currently I believe it is set to on. In the device manager says raid controller needs driver

 

You will need at least 2 hard Drives of the same size to be able to set up a RAID look at this site and you can decide for yourself which will best suit......

I only have one drive, I just want to know is it necessary to update thar driver raid controller if i am not going to use it. I only have one hard drive and dont need to or want two.

 

If your hard drive is not attached to the PCI card then I would take it out and box it.

Found the driver, it doesnt come with the dell disks which was very weird i opened the pc and researched rocket 133sb and downloaded the driver and it worked.

 

Glad to hear you have succeded ,, so it was an ATA not a SATA PCI card
