Hi new to this forum. If you see some words misspelled, that is some of the problem.I'm currently running Vista HP 32 bit.My keyboard is slow to respond or either is not responding at all.I have been told to delete a few things from running but doesn't see to help.I also been told to check performance in TaskManager,it seems to have spikes from 7 to 100%. I have also been told to run combofix, hijackthis & mbam, heard they were free DL but not sure where to find them at a trusted site, anyway this was to be a starting point.I was wondering if any of you can help with this,my laptop is my tool and before I purchase another I would love to fix this one.Something is running in the back intermitten unable to dignose, you can even see it in my cursor while typing this message.Maybe tomorrow before I can get back to you, please help,a new laptop is sure looking good right now.Thank's in advance !:)

    Hi makitaman60.

    Welcome to Major Geeks.

The safest place to download MBAM(Malwarebytes Anti-Malware) is right here at Major Geeks or at Malwarebytes.org. Combofix and HijackThis can also be found here at Major Geeks.

Since some one suggested that you run these programs, they must suspect some sort of malware is at work. The best thing to do in this case is to complete the steps in the READ & RUN ME FIRST. Malware Removal Guide that pertain to your version of Windows, in this case Vista. If you can't complete a step(s), make a note of which step and why you couldn't complete it and then move on to the next step, don't just give up.

Once you've finished the "Malware Removal Guide", start a new thread in the Malware Removal forum explaining your problem. Include any notes that you may have made and above all, make sure to attach the log files that were created while following the "Malware Removal Guide" Don't include a HiJackThis log unless you're asked to.

HOW TO: Attach Items To Your Post.

There are a couple of things to be aware of once you've completed the "Malware Removal Guide" and started your thread:

    1) Only make changes to your computer that a Malware Fighter tells you to. If you made arbitrary changes, it would only confuse the issue.

    2) Be patient(don't bump), it would only take longer to get your problem solved if you did. The Malware Fighters are very busy and it takes some time to analyze the logs. These folks are extremely efficient(the best) at doing away with malware.

Once you've been given the all clear in Malware Removal, if you still have problems you can come back here and post what the problem seems to be along with as much detailed info as you can provide.

It would be helpfull if you could provide some hardware information; Processor, amount of installed ram, percentage of free drive space? Vista can be more demanding on hardware than earlier versions of Windows, especially in the video card area.

Ok I'm back again.I found Spy E. in hidden files, but the file only contains 2 read me files no actual program files how strangeis that? there was also a spy sweeper which I think might be part of SE,but it also was a read only, like a notepad.I have looked at the properties and found the date installed, but it does no good in file removing.I have seen where others are having the same problem but have seen no solution, talking about removing SE.This is typical for me,I have to fix something else to fix what I started.I could have had a new Laptop here by now,and blowed at least a $1000.00 I don't have to spare.I got to stop SE before I go any futher, this sux!! I'll keep trying till I hear back from you.Thank's:cry

Would suggest you look in the system tray for a "Spy Emergency" icon. If found try right clicking on the icon and see if there is an option to disable it's shields(real time protection). If you don't see a "Spy Emergency" icon in the tray, then look in "All Programs", or what ever it's called in Vista, for either "Spy Emergency" or a "Spy Emergency" folder and see if there is a disable option there.

Spy Emergency, evidently is a legitimate program from NetGate Technologies, but I'm not familiar with it. Webroot Spy Sweeper is a legitimate program also. Both are commercial applications.

In any case, if you can't get Combofix to work, make a note of why and then continue on to the next procedure, which, if you're following the "Malware Removal Guide" should be "Running RootRepeal".

Well no such luck,it has got to be in here somewhere. When I boot up,it says Spy Emergency Rootkit or something to that effect, if that helps.I have searched thru files and searched thru files.I guess I'm at a stand still till I can stop SE.Combofix want run with SE scanner running. If you come up with anymore Ideas please give them to me cause I'm lost.

Make a note of what happens when you try to run Combofix, then skip the Combofix procedure and move on the next procedure. When finished with the "Malware Removal Guide", start a new thread in the Malware Removal forum describing your problem. Include the note about your problem with Combofix and attach the other logs.

You'll probably have to make two(2) posts so you can attach all of the logs because you can only attach four(4) items per post.

They'll get you fixed up in the Malware Removal forum. They will either help you get rid of SE so you can run Combofix or use a different tool in place of Combofix untill SE can be removed.
