it's been awhile -so merry holidays to everyone
a crazy question someone asked me to check on - he downloaded demo leak test (which seems likes a legit app) found it on google -he can't remove it and his anti virus program (mcafee ) picked it up -- well he's freaked out and wants it off his unit --any hints-he cant find it on his pc-so he says

Hi

What is the leak tests name or web URL so we can see whats been installed, if its this one http://www.grc.com/lt/leaktest.htm then its standalone and doesnt install so just delete the leaktest.exe (this one is a guess as to what your friend used and is a legit app and likely being picked up by McAfee as a false positive) but the name of the app and where downloaded will confirm.

If his Antivirus is picking it up they tell you a location so get him to run a scan again so that the location of the found item can be found.

Yup, it's a false positive. Leak tests more-or-less act like viruses/trojans/malware in order to test the security of the PC. This is why the antivirus program is flagging it.

yes that is what i figured it was and pass it on to him ---haven't heard back from him on the deleted exe file like u said . again thanks and happy holidays
