Denial Of Service Attack

Could the University of Sussex's website (www.sussex.ac.uk) be undergoing a denial of service attack? When you go to their website it says it is too busy. I cannot see it being that busy on a Sunday night. It looks nothing like a message you would put up if the site was down for maintenance?

 

I would say yes to the denial of service attack or something similar. I just tried the link you posted and got the same message as you did. BTW, I'm in the U.S.

 

I wonder if they know. Mind you no one is going to be there it's midnight Sunday. What do people hope to achieve doing this?

 

I didn't know it was that straightforward for these attacks to sorted.
