I am connecting to the internet fine, but for some reason my internet globes in the lower right corner have an X on them, and I opened Network and sharing center, and the status says unknown, and here is a picture, thanks for any help.

    Hello,
there have been several complaints about incorrect network status icons.
Some say that Microsoft has changed the health status logic. In any event, your internet's working.

Can you go to event viewer to determine which service(s) failed to start, and if there are any warnings or errors logged?

    Cheers, Hanon

Yes there are about 1500 errors in my service logs. Apparently it has been acting up since 6-11-11 :cry. I'll post all the info when I get home. My internet is working only cause where I live at I can't get any high speed, I have a USB air card. However, I do have my PS3 hooked to my cpu via ethernet, and the connection is shared, so I have internet on my PS3. BUT Playstation network was down for almost a month, and just came back up in my area in the last week or so,(maybe longer) So I haven't needed, or even payed attention to the connection status. I can't think of anything I changed or installed around that time except... I created a seperate user account for my daughter, and was playing around with some stuff trying to get the pics shared. I went into msconfig and made sure startup was normal, eveything was good. I tried restore point, no help. I tried manually starting Metwork Location Awareness and other services that had to do with network status, And I did get an error msg... I thought I posted that pic... maybe not. ERROR 1068. I'll post more pics when I get home. Thanks

If you click the windows key on the keyboard and R, this will bring up the "RUN" box, then type in services.msc (press enter).

Then I tend to click the "Standard tab", click Startup Type, Then type in what services located under name that does not have a "Started" under Status. From there we'll have to check your dependicies.

Also, please don't start a new post on the issue. :)

Looks like I have to kill and old AMD service myself.

K, I made sure all the other dependencies of service Network location Awareness was up and going. I tried going into raised command prompt, winsock repair, what I'm getting now is that the service Nlasvc.dll is not a valid win 32 application. I've tried every single solution after a few searches.
Maybe I've got a virus or something.

Something keeps removing NLASVC.DLL from my SYSTEM32 folder. I've checked my AV(AVG 10), SAS ,Comodo FW those are the only realtime protection I have. I go and put it back, reboot, and upon restart, it's gone. I don't even use trend micro. :confused. From what alot of people are saying, those that the solutions didn't work for, the only thing that would work is restore. Which in my case is not an option. I tried startup disk and repair, no errors were detected. Sow when I put the DLL file back and just try to restart it manually, I'm getting

    ERROR_BAD_EXE_FORMAT 193 (0xC1)

    %1 is not a valid Win32 application

Any other help would be appreciated. At this point, I'm almost going to have to do a complete system restore back to factory settings. :cry :cry

Alright after almost an entire day trying to fix it, complete restore is the only option. But I have a few questions about it. I'm gonna create some newer backups before hand. After I do a system restore, will I be able to go in and load my backups, (pics, documents, and settings) onto the restored computer without restoring the registry settings? Thanks for any help.

GOT IT!!!! In the process of creating a newer backup of everthing, I happen to think about previous versions.... backup completed, restored a previous version of NLASVC.DLL (Network Location Awareness) service. And that fixed it. Hopefully those who will have this problem in the fututre will see this thread and maybe it'll be useful. :cool
