so I use online banking a lot and when I get checks, take apic, deposit the check into my bank, and i'm done.
I'll hold the check till I see the $$ has been added to my account, which can be INSTANTLY or like a few days

my parents get a check, get dresssed in tux/prom dress, drive to bank. go inside, deal with teller and make a deposit and head home

    why?
cause PHONES ARE GONNA BE HACKED!

they do pay bills/direct deposit, etc with online banking
the issue is depositing checks using a phone

just how crazy are they? 1-10?
ie how likely are they too be "hacked"? (Im not 100% sure what they fear, they still have the check!)

oh, and it gets worse, for me?? or for them?
I shop at SAMS club(wearhouse/bulk store) when I put something in my cart, I scan the barcode..when I have everyething, I just hit PAY and I get charged to my credit card on file/that I linked to the account
NOT checks, not bank, CREDIT CARD
I then leave the store,.show them my phone/receipt

my parents also wont do this, fear of BEING HACKED, and Id stolen, etc
-(in other news, my car insurance was canceled, and I told my insurance guy(my parents neighbor and guy ive used for all my insurance needs and he's 300, so I'm now gonna modernize till he's dead)
I told my insurance guy, "get whatever deal you think is best"
and I gave him(in the email) my credit card number, and expiration date/cvv n umber, etc
    he FREAKED OUT
    I'm not worried...."

Your parents were right about one thing: you should have never e-mailed your credit card information to anyone.

You are actually. Giving your card security details via email (the expiry date and CCV number) or the card number itself, in any way apart from a point of sale terminal or via official one time phone purchasing is a breach of the T&Cs for using any form of debit or credit card.
They know, and they tell customers, never under any circumstances reveal those details in any other situation and especially email which is not secure.
Any debits resulting from you disclosing data outside of the T&Cs that is then used by a third-party ends up your liability. If you believe different, then speak with your card issuer.
