    I have Windows XP with SP2. All the icons on the desk top are "blued out". What I mean is that the texts on the icons are surrounded by blue, like when the icon is selected. Please see attachment for further clarification. How do I restore the icons to their normal appearance?
    Thanks!

    Right click on "My Computer".
    Select properties.
    Select the Advanced tab.
    Select the "settings" under performance.
    under performance....

    Within the "custom section" Check the box next to "Use drop shadows for icon lables on the desktop". Also, recommended is the next box "Use visual styles on windows and buttons." the latter is my personal pref.

    Hopefully, this is correct, since I'm using vista.

    Hi!

    I had that happen to me too. I had a couple problems with my computer at the time, so I'm not sure which one solved the problem. Here's what happened with me;

    It was either:
    I had to re-install my new cordless optical mouse due to problems.
    or
    I'm guessing it was this one.........It was from the b/f accidently holding down the "shift key" for 5 seconds, in which it beeped, and brought up a pop up saying that he had activated something. I don't remember what it was called. I couldn't get it to "de-activate", so I cheated and just did a system restore.

    Hope this helps?

    I was fartin' around with my computer, and thought that I would post a screenshot. I don't mean to cut in on your reply........

    No problem. Screen shots are the easiest way to explain how to do things.
