my desktop background had been taken over with this message:
    Windows

Warning! Windows has detected SPYWARE INSTALLED on your computer.
What is Spyware, Adware and Malware?
Spyware and Adware, also called 'Malware', are files made by publishers that allow
them to snoop on your browsing activity,
see what you purchase and send you 'pop-up' ads. They can slow down your PC, cause
it to crash, record your credit card numbers and worse.
If you're like most Internet users, chances are you're probably infected with these files.
Simply surfing the Internet, reading email, downloading music or other files can
infect your PC without you knowing it.
    * It is HIGHLY recommended to install protection from spyware
    * Choose a good antispyware program and install it to protect your privacy
Click to search the recommended spyware removal
    tools

Is it a black screen (background) and does it try and take you to topantispyware.com?

    allen,

There is a possible solution but it involves deleting things in the registry and you need to find out exactly how much malware you have on your computer.

Just Playin is correct that you go thru the Spyware section, I know you said:
It's pretty apparent you still have problems with spyware. I would go back thru all the steps making sure to follow the directions to the letter, some are very specific for a reason, like making sure you get the updates for certain programs you will be using for detecting or removing spyware....so don't try taking shortcuts.

After you have completed your tests or get stuck somewhere in the process and feel that you are still having problems or the Desktop Background Problems still continue, go ahead and start a thread in the Spyware section
    here,http://forums.majorgeeks.com/forumdisplay.php?f=35

Tell them you have completed the tests and still having trouble, include things like error messages (like you did in this thread) and other relevant stuff.

Those guy's that help in spyware have seen it all and are very patient and helpful, so please don't hesitate to ask for help. I think this approach is better and alot safer than the registry idea.
