Unchecking aero works. When aero is checked, you only have to rest your mouse pointer over the show desktop option and the desktop will display. when aero is unchecked, you purposely have to click on the desktop option to display the desktop.

The OP wants the button gone; that's what we're trying to get rid of - a button on the far right of the taskbar.

3magic1, that does NOT remove the button. The OP wanted the button gone from the taskbar.

Burgess, do you have SP1 installed? I want to see if it works on a SP1 computer.

Thanks for letting me know. I saw complaints that the fix had to be run again everytime the computer is cold booted.
Perhaps a newer fix will eventually work.

Yep right now there is just no way to get rid of it permanent, just have to get used to other ways of scrolling or be very precise.....

Sorry for the late response, been a busy week.

I've had no problems with this program since I installed it. I have it installed on a Dell Laptop running Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit with Service Pack 1. There is a start-up entry for in (showing in CCleaner), on my computer:

    C:\ProgramFiles(x86)ShowDesktopRemover\StartShowDesktopRemover.exe.

It's worked properly since the first installation for me. Might want to make sure it's set to run at start-up.
