    hi all

when i started my pc today instead of my usual desktop picture another one came up that said: Warning your system is vulnerable" or something like that and it went on about how dangerous is to me and my whole family (???). I was like wtf??

so anyway, i right clicked on the desktop and of course instead of the usual options it came up with web file options eg. view source, copy, refresh etc. I went into view source and saw that a webfile is behind all this called "Desktop.html". I found it and deleted it, but my original desktop is still not showing, just some blue and white flashing background.

i ran hijack and found nothing, i have attached it anyway.

i have run some anti-spyware progs that found some things but this thing is still stuffed.

I network another pc of mine through this one, does the traffic that comes through the network affect this (the one with web connection) pc or only the other pc that requested that information? My gf browse the web on that sometimes.

Stinger is running in the background but has found nothig so far.

    Any ideas?

You are not using the correct version of HJT this. But first you need to follow forum guidelines and you must locate HJT in the proper directory and shutdown all browsers before running it. Logs must only be posted when reqested. Read below! And the link for the proper version of HJT is also included. Do not run programs like Stinger when running HJT.

First, please follow ALL the steps in this Sticky thread READ ME FIRST BEFORE ASKING FOR SUPPORT: Basic Spyware, Trojan And Virus Removal
If you already have any of the programs linked in the tutorial please double check your version to make sure you have the latest one and that you have any/all updates for the programs.

NOTE: In order to resolve the issues you are having it is very important that you at least try to perform all the steps as outlined. If you have any difficulty please post back letting us know what steps you have completed, what you found while doing the scans if anything and details about any problems you have encountered in completing the steps. The more details you can provide the better.

After doing ALL of the above if you still have a problem:

Make sure you have HijackThis 1.99 and follow the guidelines on where to install it and how to post a log as an attachment. This is all covered in the sticky thread NO HIJACK THIS LOG FILES BEFORE READING THIS: HJT Tutorial & LOG File Posting

Now post a HijackThis as a .txt file attachment to your message. All running programs should be closed, including your web browser, e-mail. Close before running Hijack This!

To repeat: Do NOT run Hijack This from the Desktop, a temp folder, or a sub-folder of C:\Documents and Settings, or choose to run it directly from the downloaded ZIP file. Place it in its own folder, for example C:\Program Files\HJT

Also have you tried right clicking your Desktop, select Customize Desktop, then select the Web tab. Make sure at the bottom that Lock desktop items is not checked. And delete all Web pages: from the box except My Current Home Page also uncheck the box next to My Current Home Page.
