Desktop icons get scrambled: Virus ?

my desktop icons get put in a different order, sometimes, i think it might be a virus; i have avg free virus scanner, and i run adaware free scanner, and fix-ware-out, none of them seem to fix the problem ? thanks

 

If you right click in a blank area on your desktop, you'll get a menu where one of the choices it "Arrange icons by >". If you pause the mouse pointer on it, another menu comes up, if any choices here are checked other than "Align to grid" and "Show desktop icons", your icons aren't likely to stay put. Also, frequently changing your desktop resolution will also re-arrange your icons.

 

I've been using Iconoid for a long time. Helpful when there are those times that the desktop goes a little wacko. Also has a great "icon dance" feature for cheap entertainment.

You might want to try the freeware utility called Restore Desktop 2.0. This application adds a Windows Context Menu addition, which will (after installation) automatically save and/or restore the icons' positions on the Windows desktop. Restore Desktop restores icons' positions (for instance) like after changing the display resolution. You can save/restore the desktop icons' positions very easily by simply manually "right-clicking" anywhere on the desktop and then choosing "Save Desktop" or "Restore Desktop."

Please Note: Icon Restore 1.0 is another similar freeware program.
