Desktop icons not appearing correctly

Not sure if this is the correct place to post this but here goes.....

Ive noticed lately that HALF my icons on my desktop are just white boxes, or rather the icons on my desktop do not appear correctly.

They still execute fine, just dont appear correctly.

If I restart my computer, they stay the same. No change

I thought it was a virus, so I ran my virus program twice, and no virus.

Im thinking its a reset setting or some setting I need to do to get my icons back to normal.

Can someone help me,. please?

I think I figured it out, but if I restart the computer, I hope it will stay like it is, but I went to properties on each icon and just selected CHANGED ICON and applied it.

Not sure what happened, but well its fixed.........(for now) :cool

 

I am not sure if this will help but you could try going to control panel>display>click on the desktop tab and then customize desktop>restore to default..hope that works for you

Found this on another forum it fix my icon error like yours

This was the fastest fix for me. At first my icons were all black, when i rebooted they were all the generic white icon. right clicking on active desktop then changing the effect to show large icons, then apply, then changing back and applying was so simple and fast almost unbelievable. thank you thank you
