I just got a used computer from a friend and cleaned out a lot of garbage. Two things I need help with:

    1. it appears that the image on the desktop is locked. When I try to change in Display Properties everything is frozen. Even when I try to Save as Background while viewing an image it doesn't work

    2. CTL+ALT+DEL for Task Manager gives me the message that Task Manager has been disabled by the administrator

Can anyone help me enable Task Manager and help with the desktop problem???

Thanks as always to all that help in this wonferful forum!!

What operating system? This should work for XP.

1.Change the DWord value. Start > Run > Regedit and locate the following key:

    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\ActiveDesktop. NoChangingWallPaper
DWord value: 1 prevents changing wallpaper, 0 allows changes.
