I have a problem concerning right clicking on the desktop. I regularly right click on the desktop for many reasons such as changing the background, arranging icons etc but just recently it has started to take around 15 seconds for the desktop panel to come up if you what I mean (The one where you can click properties etc). It's only on the desktop that I have this problem and it is becoming a pain now as it slows down all my other programs aswell when I right click on it. Please could somebody help me if they know what to do or if anyone has any ideas I would appreciate it!

It's hard to say what might be causing that.

It's most likely some extra app running in the background. Could be something you put there or spyware, maybe a virus.

Best I can suggest is run something like adaware for spyware, then do a virus scan, and take a look to see what extra programs you are running 24/7.

Also take a look in the startup tab of msconfig (start->run-> "msconfig") and see if there is something starting with windows that you don't want. Nothing in that tab is needed for windows XP to run. It's all going to be stuff that was installed after windows.
