I'm looking for a small desktop scanner for work. It's predominantly going to be used for scanning in documentation to use in online grant applications, so clarity of print is required, and maybe occasional photo scanning. It only need to take letter size paper, but as we are a non-profit, it needs to be cheap but effective.

I open to hearing about what you guys recommend, and any hardware sites with reviews that you would recommend. I have an older one at home that isn't mains powered, but plugs in to the OS via a USB and uses the PC power supply. Something like this would be ideal.

    Any suggestions?

    The pre-reqs are USB?

Anything special? Like, film scanners built in? Or just cheap?

If using IE7, any HP products will have issues, unless ye were to use the "workaround" patches.

Does the computer, have USB 2.0 installed?

Are ye wanting, flat bed, hand held, upright scanners?

In the end, though, I'm not a person who uses scanners, I could suggest:

But, not knowing what is cheap, for a not-for-profit place is a hard decision.

The above is $50. It is by Canon. Just my suggestion. :)

Sweet theefool, thanks :) On my surfing travels I came up with this...

    http://www.officedepot.com/ddSKU.do...rinters-_-Canon CanoScan LiDE70 Color Scanner

The Canon LiDE 70..it's sister, funnily enough :)

I am trying to keep it around the $100 for a flat bed scanner. Yes USB 2.0 is installed and I use FF browser. Nothing special, just cheap, so I don't have to walk half the building everytime I process an electronically submitted grant. We have a more complex scanner for one-off fancy stuff.

The main reason I picked the link I suggested, is due to the reviews.

But, since it is a sister product, it should be great. ;)
