Desktop Shenanigans (Icons Refreshing?)

    Gang, I don't really know if "refreshing" is the correct word, but when I delete an item from, or empty my recycle bin, My desktop icons recover from something other than their standard picture. It looks like they're refreshing for lack of a better term. Is this normal? OS is XP Home SP1. Thanks.
