My desktops speakers are making a really annoying hummmm...noise. I installed some other speakers and they make the same noise so Im sure the speakers are ok. The only problem I ever had w my pc is the power supply was dirty and the fan was making a loud noise. I cleaned the dust off the power supply and now its ok. Anyone know why my speakers make that humming noise?

Interference from something close to the speakers. If they are poorly shielded they might hum. Look at cordless telephones, wireless routers or modems, florescent lights...

Try turning down the volume, if the speakers have a volume control to see if you can get the humming to stop.

Also, if the AC cord plug to the power supply is unpolarized then remove the plug and turn it over.

If you have a normal plug on the AC cord then flip it over. Right prong is now on the left in the socket.

If it doesn't fit then that means you have a polarized plug.
