Desktop Swamped By Google

Made fatal error clicking on large white Google desktop icon

(XPHomeSP2 etc)which appeared after I FOOLISHLY poked at

something about Active Desktop Item!!! Now it's "GOOGLE" all

over, not listed under wallpaper, desktop, background, & hides

everything behind old existing icons with no minimise button

which I saw in small version. Guess what won't go away after I

clicked Maximise??? No help from Google sites. Deleted every

thing with 'Google' from harddrives and from Registry. NBG. No

Internet Explorer in Control Panel and no functioning uninstall -

can't delete most of it's files, or update or repair IE becoz

trying to install a fresh IE6SP1 says I already have a newer

version. So tried reinstalling Q828750 & Q831167 and they say I

need SP1 version first!! Vicious circle. Could kick myself. And I always run SpyBot and AdAware, with PandaPlatinum.

How can I uninstall both IE6 AND Google? Or just this ogre?

Hi, since the background is a picture have you tried searching for it? Silly question I am sure but try searching for *.jpg then if that is no good try *.bmp and *.gif You will I am sure find the Google picture somewhere with this. You can then delete it if you really want to

The problem was solved by turning Active Desktop "Off"
