Desktop/wallpaper gone!

Alright, so out of the blue, my icons, and start menu bar vanish. My wallpaper is still alive, my programs still run fine and everything. I run AVG, CCleaner, and Ad-aware to remove all unwanted/infected files and it's still happening after a reboot. Then I browse familiar problems and find out my explorer.exe isn't running. Yet it runs for 2 - 4 seconds on start up, keeps turning on and off, then it just stays off. I'm running XP with SP2. Help please! :cool

Well it seemed like SUPER Anti-Spyware fixed it. First program I ran did the trick. To be extra safe I'll be following the guide even further. Thank you for directing me to that topic Petaluma, I definitely appreciate it. Take care.
