desktop xp?

what did I do and hoew do I fix it?
I don't want the thing on the left?

 

make sure your not using a webpage as your backround. Display Properties-->Desktop-->Customize Desktop-->Web and uncheck the page listed.

also try browsing for your wallpaper again, it may have listed it as a web page

all that did was give me the same prompt

 

Try This...

right click on the desktop-->Arrange Icons By--> and uncheck the "Lock Web Items to The Desktop"

somethings wrong with my theme
i just restarted it
and left it alone
my right click desktop.properties is not fully functional

 

I still can't get my desktop properties thing to work
right click desktop>properties and then I should have something like goldie's png below with tabs, but all I get is my theme
how do I get them all back?

Go to Start > Control Panel and open Display. Click on the Desktop tab and click the Web tab.

Is Active Desktop enabled? If so, uncheck "View my Active Desktop as a web page" and OK. See if this helps.
