Hi, I recently attempted to uninstall a demo copy of WinDVD 8 (period had expired). However, although the installer ran, now, everytime I boot up, WinDVD attempts to reinstall!! After a futile attempt it puts up the following error: 1311 Source file not found C:\windows\installer\data1.cab (prob cos the file aint there!). I have run a couple of Registry cleaners, I have cleansed the registry manually (both Intervideo & WinDVD entries) I have searched my drive for all ref to this program (deleting everything including hidden files), I have even attempted to re-install the prog in a vain attempt to get a fresh shot at a `full` uninstall, but still the little beggar pops up!! Does anyone have any advice? Cos this is twisting my mellon!! (Oh I'm running XPSP2).

Any help will be much appreciated!

Run msconfig from the start menu, go to the start up tab and remove the tick for windvd. HTH.
