Just finished putting together an Athlon 64 and mother board. I'm trying to install Windows XP 64... When I start/restart the pc the screen first displays the Video card info then says "Detecting IDE Drives..." this process takes a good 10 minutes which is way too long! And has only about 3 times flew through the detecting IDE devices... Anyone have any idea what the problem/s could be?

first thought is have you cleared CMOS, a few times I have built pc's the CMOS needed clearing before the OS would decide to play fair.
