So I just bought Deus Ex Human Revolution via Steam.

I had it on my Xbox 360 when it first came out and decided to pick it up again but this time for my PC.

When I launch the game the menu is getting on average 3Fps and topping at 10Fps. In game it was from 25Fps-17Fps the audio was stuttering really bad in the beginning cut scenes as well.

    My specs
    Motherboard: Gigabyte M68MT-S2
    Processor: AMD FX-4100 3.6GHz
    Memory: 8GB DDR3
Operating System: Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit
Graphics Card: AMD Radeon HD 6670 1GB
Monitor: Acer Black 20"LED Backlight Widescreen LCD Monitor (recommend resolution is 1600x900)

Can anyone advise me on what to do to improve my game?

I have tried lowering my resolution turning off settings but nothing seems to help.

I'm pretty new to PC gaming so sorry if this is a dumb question I'm just don't get how I'm averaging 3fps in the main menu for a game. lol

Well this had been a day full of excitement thankfully it ends well.

I found out that my CPU was the issue all along I guess the AMD FX Series has issues with Valve CEG games like Deus Ex Human Revolution. It caused BSOD on Bulldozer CPUs also I would like to point out I have no clue what BSOD means but it certainly sounds cool! :major

Well unless the manufacture of your Motherboard solves the issue in a BIOS update (I think that's what the guy said lol) you will have to use the nifty little program a guy located here made.

    http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums...lve-CEG-games-causing-BSOD-on-Bulldozer-issue

You can also find the download in the first post at the bottom the program is called Orochi-CEG. It's pretty straight forward just open the .zip and run Orochi-CEG.exe very simple follow the on screen steps which for me involved hitting any key which closed the program and it was done. Didn't even have to work for it!

Once I had run it I launched Deus Ex and now I'm averaging 45Fps instead of the 9-19Fps I was getting before.

On a side note you will have to launch this program every time you power cycle (turn the PC off/on) as the setting are erased.

I have this game on PC but have yet to install it so this is based on general gaming knowledge.
The low FPS in menu, menus are usually fairly static, if there is nothing to draw or no changing screen then the FPS will be low, a bit like when a loading screen is just a still shot, you will only get 1FPS because there is only 1 Frame to draw.

Although your 25FPS in game with your system is a bit low.

First thing I would check is that your video card drives are up to date and that you don't have all kinds of other non essential software running while gaming.

Installing "Game Booster" could help although your specs suggest you shouldn't really need it but it might shut off something that is dragging your system.

Also if you are recording FPS then I'm assuming you are using something like FRAPS?
If this is the case make sure you are not accidentally recording as this will cripple your system, have you tried playing without FRAPS loaded?

But I think in all honesty I'm still leaning towards driver update/incorrect drivers.

I found a fix for the issue and posted it but I guess it's still awaiting approval.

The problem was related to my CPU and all AMD FX Series CPUs.

That was my intention I actually posted the fix on Steam as a person over there with a different model in the FX series was having the same issue. I ironically I found the answer on a different forum and it wasn't really an answer but what he said led me to the site via a google. lol

Either way I figure the more sites it's on the easier it will be for people to find this solution.

An yeah I'm a newbie to PC Gaming lol coming from console(Xbox 360)I read from your post. I know about the password and let me tell you my sister and moms passwords make me face palm all day. *facepalm*

And in my first week of this new PC I realized how many issues my firewall is going to cause:cry....

Thank you glad to be here. :)

That is exactly how forums are supposed to work. :)

Please, feel free to stick around. The more members of MGs, the merrier we will be, and the more help we'll be able to give others who come here looking for it. :)

And I know all about the password frustration... the example I put in that sticky honestly really happened. And yes, I gave her a ton of grief over such a poorly chosen password. ;)

And when I plan on upgrading this PC I will need all the help I can get trying to learn what to do and how to do it. I'm hoping to get a new PSU and Graphics Card later this year when there are good specials going.

Well I assume it's for new people helps moderate spam that way something that is inappropriate doesn't get posted and left up until a moderator can delete it.

    Yup.

    Thanks!

    Deus Ex: HR Stuttering Issues

Well Deus Ex Human Revolution is running great.

Minus a little issue there seems to be a stuttering issue in certain areas around the map I will go from a solid 50Fps and then it will plunge to 25Fps and then a second later rocket back to 50Fps again. I have tried lowering my setting and still nothing it will go from 60Fps (I have V-Sync on) to 26Fps and then back up in the same areas.

I think it may be an issue with the game though as I remember loading up the game on my Xbox a while back and having the same issues in at least one spot.

Kinda annoying but at least it only last for a second.
