My pc is havivg a major problem this is what came up while opening my home page.

    stop error screen
    file: nv_disp
device driver programming the hardware incorrectly

    technical information
    ***stop:eek:xooooooea (ox88c43240, ox89a7d008, oxbace3cbc, ox00000001)

    nv4_disp
    beginning dump of physical memory
    physical memory dump complete

I had to shut off the power to reset the computer. The reboot seemed normal. We have had an ongoing problem with this computer for about a month. What is has been doing is the cursor would freeze and most of the time the computer would go black and then it would reboot. Need as much help as possible.

    Thanks

Hmm, I have 1 computer with what looks like this problem too. It appears to be related to the nVidia drivers for your graphics card.

With my computer, using drivers from Microsoft Update, there are no errors but the card is very slow, impossible to play any games on.

All other drivers I tried invariably end up with this error on a regular basis, sometimes it's fine for the first month or three, then poof > errors daily :(

    You have 3 options, I think;

1, if you play games on the PC, you will need to reinstall graphics card drivers from nVidia on a regular basis (something seems to trigger a 'rot' after a while).

2, if you only use your PC for office-based tasks and internet use, you could use Windows Update advanced settings to try to install the basic but stable drivers from there.

3, troubleshoot the error thoroughly to find a real fix for this problem. The first step for this is explained in http://forums.majorgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=35246

In order of ease of use - 2, 1, 3.

BUT, if this crash only happens when you open your web browser, there may be something else involved.

Uninstall your Nvidia drivers. Search your computer for nv_disp.dll and\or nv4_disp.dll and delete. Reboot. Reinstall the newest Nvidia Forceware drivers. Reboot.
