hey i am having problems with my device manager, whenever i go to open it i get this message:

MMC cannot open the file C:\windows\system32\
    dvcmgmt.msc.

This may be because the file does not exist, is not an MMC console, or was created by a later version of MMC. This may also be because you do not have sufficent access rights to the file.

also i cannot run start>search for some reason, i think it might be related.
i know its not the access rights becuz i a logged on as an admin right now. plz help

    Does
    run>devmgmt.msc
    bring it up?

If that doesnt work and if it also happens with all msc files then
    start>run>
    regsvr32 C:\Windows\system32\msxml3.dll

    msxml3.dll:
Part of the xml parser, this file is part of IE6 which is a part of xp,should be there in the system32 folder run a search.

I dont know how this effects device manager but somebody said that it will work.

Unregsitering it doesn't break Dev manager, so its dependency on it is questionable.

    Was this a typo?

    dvcmgmt.msc.

ok kadavill i can't run a search on my computer, that doesnt work either. but i dont know if this means anything but i can access my device manager through pc doctor i think, not sure but i still want to fix it to run through run>devmgmt.msc
