I have cassettes, cds, I would like on flash drives. I have seen components to do this and devices to play the flash drives besides car and PC. They are stand alone flash drive players.
Please help me formulate a plan to get this done ans I am sure my plan needs modification.

    Here's a simple way.

    1. Connect a Hi-Fi (sound system) that has a cassette deck and CD player to a PC. You need a simple $1 cable that connects from the Hi-Fi's headphone socket to the PC's Line In socket.

    2. Use Audacity for recording and removing the clicks, crackels & pops.

    3. Transfer the songs to flash drives.

I have a desktop but my sound system is not working and very old. That is why I am trying to do this.
    I have no laptop.
I really appreciate your taking the time, Eldon, and I wish I had the set ups you suggest.
I used Media player to put cds on a flash drive with MP3 for the car and it worked well.
I wonder if a Honda 2017 CR V would play both systems ex MP4?
I looked for MP4 players as I think they can play both MP3 and MP4. I could get rid of the old system and use a player for both systems.
Would this do? I would like something a little better for the house but I will settle for this if it does the job of paying both.

What you linked to can't replace a sound system - it's a portable player.
Also you need a casette deck to transfer the music to CDs or flash drives.

I guess I was thinking of using a device to put cds and cassettes onto a flash drive then once on a flash drive, play them with an MP3 and MP4 player such as I linked. Thanks for the time and help; I will work on it.

I took my old cassettes, plugged an old cassette player, similar to a Walkman, up to a computer then used Audacity to record the tapes into the computer. After I had them in mp3 format, I could put them on sd cards, USB sticks, into my mp3 players or burn to CDs.

Do you own an old Walkman-type portable cassette player? If so, I will point out what cable you'll need to purchase to attach the device to a PC (I used a desktop computer running Windows 2000).

I have put hundreds of songs on a flash drive from cvs using Windows media player. Now that you have told me about the cassette I can use that to do the same.
Yes I do have an in-line cable open on both ends to plug into both the cassette player in the computer but I’m not sure of this computer has such a port to insert the cable. I had it built and it has no card reader and I don’t see a whole report or a cable.
    Am I missing something?

Look at the back of the case. You'll see Headphone, Mic & Line In. Use the latter.

I do have a mic and headset in front and different color ports in back. I'll be gone for awhile but am looking forward to your reply.

I included a shot of this object in case you know what it is. There are no obvious holes in it and has a 3.5 jack on the other end.
Back to topic, Mic and headset are in the front. Lime, blue, pink are in back. Lime is for my sound.
