Hello. To get started, I use XP Professional SP3, have a linksys NIC, and a Belkin router.

This problem started a few days ago because I have been experiencing laggy gameplay. Followed a few days later by complete loss of internet connectivity for all programs. I know it's an operating system error because in my process of elimination, I have ruled out both the router, the modem, and all cabling, as directly connecting the ethernet cord that was in the afflicted desktop to my laptop results in perfect internet and accessibility to the router's webinterface from the laptop.

I have a Motorola modem supplied by my ISP (Cox), connected to my new Belkin wireless router. The computer in question is a desktop, however, and connected through an ethernet cable. In short, when connected to the router, I can neither ping the router, access the router's webinterface, or access the internet. Occasionally, network connections tells me I'm connected and I even get assigned an ip after running ipconfig/release & /renew, but even then the same symptoms apply. Most of the time I can't even get that far, with a "This connection has limited or no connectivity" error. Completely rejected for all sites on the internet, I can't ping any IP except for my machine, and I can't even ping the router. All requests timed out.

The most informative thing I can offer is the error I receive uniformly when I try to /renew: "An error occurred while renewing interface XXXX: Unable to contact your DHCP server. Request has timed out. " My routers DHCP IS enabled and DOES have an acceptable range of assignable leases.

    I have:
    Run a winsock fix
    Run an lsp fix
Power cycled until my hands bled
    Released and renewed
    Run netsh resets
And as of today, purchased a brand new NIC.
Firmware is up to date on the router, it is also new.
Searched for every solution for TCP/IP stack corruption that I could find.

Still nothing. I've found this problem a lot all over the internet so I hope someone has an idea.

Have you tried using a static IP?
