    Hello ALL
I have a problem and I hope someone can help!! I have a laptop with Windows 7 64bit OS when it connects to my router it keeps requesting an IP, and getting one over and over again see below a sample from the router logs
, DHCP: Server sending ACK to 192.168.1.5. (Lease time=86400).
,DHCP: Server receive REQUEST from 00:05:9e:8d:68:ad.
, DHCP: Server sending ACK to 192.168.1.5. (Lease time=86400).
,DHCP: Server receive REQUEST from 00:05:9e:8d:68:ad.

I have made sure I was using the latest 64bit driver for my wireless adapter (Atheros)
    My router is a d-link DSL-2780 (Talktalk)

My wife’s laptop has Vista 32bit and connects fine (1 request 1 ACK)
I was wondering if anyone else has had a similar problem. and how to sort it

    Thank You in advance

    Hi

Has this just started to happen all of a sudden and if so did you install any new software (especially security software) or do any updates to Windows and/or software?

    Is your Win7 at Sp1?

If you use a ethernet cable to connect to the router, can you get internet ok?

Disable any security software and reboot and try again.

Could try to disable the autotuning and see if that works and to do this on win7 follow the below

Click Start and type into the Start Search box cmd and then when it shows in the search list right click it and choose Run as Administrator as you need an elevated command prompt, then type or paste the following

netsh interface tcp set global autotuninglevel=disabled

and hit enter, then reboot and try again, can always turn it back on by changing disabled to enabled in the netsh command.

    Hi DavidGP
Very sorry I have taken so long to reply I have been away for a few days!
Yes it has service pack 1 installed; I have had a few problems with my ISP! That is when I noticed the problem but I don’t know how long it has been happening, I can connect to the internet ok and it does not seem to drop out, I am trying your suggestion about autotuning to see if that helps

    Thanks again David
